Caroline Olivares Walker is a Clinical Psychologist with a degree from the National University of Mexico. Born and raised in Mexico City, she is both British and Mexican by nationality. As such, she has been strongly influenced by her bicultural background and education. In Mexico, Caroline specialized in counselling teenagers in a children’s hospital environment using her clinical skills at the hospital’s psychiatric ward and the outpatient department. These skills include psycho-diagnosis and counselling for a broad range of issues, including but not limited to developmental problems, emotional disturbances, chronic diseases and behavioural abnormalities. Caroline has also worked with undergraduate students as an educational counsellor at the Anahuac University in Mexico City.
She relocated to Singapore in 2000 and thus understands the personal growth that can occur with such a move, as well as what it is like to adjust to a new environment, and cope with the stress it can put on couples and families. Here in Singapore, she has worked -- supported by the Spanish Speaking Women’s Association (SSWA) -- as a counsellor mainly with migrant women, couples and families. Along with her work with SSWA, she has also organized workshops and talks on diverse topics, such as relationship issues, eating disorders, learning disabilities, child development among others.
Caroline sees individuals, couples, children and families. She prefers to use a psychodynamic approach, but customises her therapy depending on the needs of the individual. Caroline speaks fluent Spanish and English.
